Eric G. Kahn
Plaintiffs' Personal Injury Law - Springfield, NJ

Eric Kahn has emerged as one of New Jersey's leading young personal-injury lawyers, who is likely to have a high profile in the profession for years to come. At 44, he already owns a record of trial successes and settlements rare among even seasoned courtroom lawyers - for example, he won a $7.5 million wrongful-death and personal injury settlement from the State of New Jersey, stemming from the death of a neglected seven-year-old child and the abuse of his two brothers. Also, Kahn serves as managing partner of the Javerbaum Wurgaft firm, which, with 30 lawyers and six locations, is one of the largest plaintiffs' firms in the State. He also has assumed key roles in the State plaintiffs' bar, and is especially well known in Union and Essex counties. That leadership reflects a high degree of confidence in Kahn among his senior partners as well as attorneys throughout New Jersey.

Kahn's style - focused and even-tempered - to some extent belies a quiet intensity and competitiveness; he grew up across the street from the renowned Baltusrol Golf Club, where as a teen he caddied for members and the occasional pro. At Springfield's Jonathan Dayton High School, Kahn was an All-State tennis player, and also played basketball and soccer; he went on to Haverford College and majored in political science, with an eye to practice law. While a law student he clerked for Ken Javerbaum and Jack Wurgaft, who spotted Kahn's talents and potential immediately. He joined the firm full time upon graduating from law school, and - incredible in this age of professional instability - the Javerbaum firm is the only place Kahn has ever worked. By 2001 he was a partner and became a named partner in 2007.

Senior partners mentored the young Kahn, and his early courtroom experience raised his profile. It is increasingly difficult for promising young lawyers to gain trial experience, but Kahn, through his 30s, was a rare exception, gaining access and experience at the trial level many lawyers will wait a decade or two for. He has also appeared three times before the New Jersey Supreme Court so far in his career.

Today, Kahn is already a fixture of the State plaintiffs' bar and is a trial lawyer certified by the Supreme Court. He has authored several important legal briefs and written a book for the New Jersey Law Journal entitled "Library of New Jersey Personal Injury Forms."

Away from the office, Kahn enjoys a round of golf, though he's doing less of it these days. He and his wife Lynn, a health care consultant, have two young daughters, Nicole and Courtney.
