Affiliations Richard Russell's many affiliations reflect his longtime leadership in matrimonial law, as well as in the South Jersey legal community. He was admitted to practice before the New Jersey State Courts and the Federal District Courts in 1973, and was admitted before the United States Supreme Court in 1979. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Cape May County and Atlantic County bar associations. He serves on Matrimonial Early Settlement Panels of both county bar associations. He sits on the Executive Committee of the State Bar's Family Law Section, and was its chair in 1990-91. He is a fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has been a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court's Family Practice Committee since 1984, and he is current chair of the court's Child Support Subcommittee. Russell received in 1995 the Saul Tischler Award from the Family Law Section of the State Bar, recognizing him for his contributions to the law. |

Russell has sat on or chaired several committees of both the State Bar and the Supreme Court, including the Court's Matrimonial Law Committee, Committee on Women in the Courts (1992-96), the State Domestic Violence Working Group (1991-93, 1998-present), and the Supreme Court's Committee on Economic Consequences of Divorce on Women (which also examined gender bias in the court system.) Russell serves as a senior editor of The New Jersey Family Lawyer, and has lectured widely on family-law issues, before the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and National Judicial College, among others.
