Joseph V. Maceri
Divorce Law - Hackensack, NJ

I've always had a strong sense of family and I've always felt I bring that sensitivity to the cases of all my clients. My focus is always to get my clients - and their loved-ones - through the process with as little personal damage as possible.

From the first conversation I help my clients understand the process, what to expect, and what their role is to get through it. More than anything we don't want any surprises. As your lawyer it's important for me to have a complete picture of the marital situation, financially and otherwise. That's the only way I can really help. Sometimes it's simple and straightforward - and other times it takes a formal discovery process, including retaining experts such as forensic accountants, psychologists and the like.

Personal emotions can play a big part in delaying the outcome of a case. Four people - the two getting divorced and their respective lawyers - are involved in the process, and it takes only one to derail things, which only adds to the time and expense of a fair resolution. What's more, I am not a therapist or psychologist - I am always there to help, but my service to my clients always focuses on preparing a sound legal approach to resolve their matter.

One of the great satisfactions for me is that every client and every case is distinct. I may be mediating custody issues one day and contesting a business valuation in court the next. In every case, though, preparation is essential. In fact, it's not so much what happens in the courtroom, it's what happens before going to court, that really can determine a result.

Almost all of my cases come from word-of-mouth referrals - we're in a competitive profession, and more than anything we want our clients to feel they've been properly represented.

I've joined a team of talented lawyers at Snyder & Sarno and I know my clients benefit from our firm's collective expertise. We're well known throughout Northern New Jersey as tough advocates for our clients. We've got a great record, and I'm proud to be a part of this team.
