Bari Zell Weinberger is one of New Jersey's most accomplished young divorce lawyers, having built a solid reputation and a successful family law practice - all while still in her 30s.
After graduating from Manalapan High School in Monmouth County, Weinberger went on to the University of Massachusetts, where she double-majored in sociology and legal studies. "I knew I wanted to be a lawyer even back then."
She considered entertainment and sports law, and worked briefly for an NBC affiliate producing legal affairs reports while still attending Suffolk University Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctorate. However, she turned to matrimonial law while clerking for Middlesex County Family Judge Roger Daley, "a tremendous experience and a great mentor," adding, "a clerkship really gives backroom insights into the process and the judicial system. Every lawyer would benefit from that kind of experience." From there she worked for several years in divorce boutique firms as both an associate and partner.
Eager to build her professional identity and encouraged by her husband, she launched her own practice. Weinberger Law Group practices out of four locations: The firm's Freehold, Hackensack and Basking Ridge offices, and their Headquarters office in Parsippany. Weinberger says the secret to her law group's success is in her team's unwavering dedication to serving clients. "We're a different kind of law firm because we provide our clients a different kind of high level legal representation that we coined 'compassionate counsel,'" she explains.
Some clients are struck by her youthfulness and easygoing style, but don't be misled: She's a capable, knowledgeable and formidable practitioner, colleagues say. "I care about my clients, their lives and achieving a favorable outcome that works - I take what I do very seriously."
Her firm's website reflects her high standards - www.WeinbergerLawGroup.com is original, well-designed, organized, and extremely comprehensive. In addition to the firm's site, another site has been launched, www.weinbergermediation.com, and together they serve as a valuable, all-inclusive resource for people to educate themselves about an anticipated divorce or family law related matter..
Weinberger is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney, a designation attained by only about 2% of the State's lawyers. She was also named a New Jersey Super Lawyer Rising Star for consecutive years. Weinberger is an Associate Author of the New Jersey Family Law Practice, 15th Ed., 2013, the guide to family law used by every family law judge in the state. She has also served as a co-author of Strategies for Military Law and is a regular resource for TV, radio and news media outlets. She has been a contributor to the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Smart Money, CBS, ABC, News Channel 12, E-Health Radio, Huffington Post, Divorce Magazine, The Star Ledger, New Jersey Lawyer Magazine, Matrimonial Strategist, and more. Weinberger was recently honored as NJBIZ Top 50 Women in Business, Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Weinberger Law Group has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey.
Away from the office she and her husband, Aaron, are avid sports fans who enjoy following the New Jersey Devils, the New York Giants, and University of Massachusetts basketball team.
