Hard working and quick thinking, Henry Berman is widely regarded as one of the leaders of the Matrimonial Bar in Southern New York.
After graduating in the top of his class at St. John’s Law School, the Queens native early on worked in the New York appellate court system for six years, and later for Samuel G. Friedman - a former state Supreme Court Justice. (“I got my best training working for Sam,” says Berman.) It was those early experiences that honed Berman’s skills in matrimonial law, including valuation, discovery and litigation.
By the early 1980s, Berman had acquired the key skills of a top-flight divorce lawyer, earning a reputation as a shrewd negotiator, with the personal skills to work successfully with his clients. He has continued building on that reputation ever since. He later became a partner of Fink, Weinberger, Berman, Freidman & Fenstecheim, and Berman ultimately led its matrimonial department.
Today Berman is senior partner of Berman, Bavero, Frucco & Gouz, P.C. in White Plains, where he oversees a firm of six attorneys and handles his own caseload as well. They focus almost exclusively on matrimonial law.
He and his wife, fellow matrimonial attorney Ronnie Gouz, live in Westchester County.
