Dr. Gregory DeVita has built a strong reputation in a variety of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, making him one of the most sought-after surgeons in the New York region today. A veteran surgeon widely respected by his peers, Dr. DeVita also has an unpretentious, accessible personal style that his patients appreciate. Today his two-office practice (in Great Neck and Rockville Center) is thriving; it is widely regarded as a regional center of rhinoplasty (nose-related procedures), facial rejuvenation, abdominoplasty and breast-surgery procedures, among others. He routinely provides prospective patients with a portfolio of before-and-after photographs. "It's all about results, and I have a record of excellent results that I'm happy to show on request."
A native of Long Island, Dr. DeVita is from a family of professionals. Dr. DeVita excelled at Chaminade High School and later Fairfield University. When he began his career in plastic surgery, he drove - often in the middle of the night - to hospitals throughout the region to address the wounds of car-accident and domestic-abuse victims. Even today he receives referrals from those who remember him in those years.
Dr. DeVita teamed up with Dr. Mark I. Silberman in the late 1980s, and their practice has grown steadily. Today The Plastic Surgery Group has five surgeons, one of the largest and best appointed private practices in the nation. Their state-of-the-art 7000-square-foot building on Northern Boulevard, recently completed, includes two Quad-A Operating Rooms and a third in construction.
Dr. DeVita is well known for having performed hundreds of successful rhinoplasties, both primary and secondary procedures. "A successful rhinoplasty is one that doesn't have an 'operated' look," he says, "just as a successful facelift is one that is harmonious and not overdone." His surgical skills include extensive experience with body contouring after massive weight loss. This can encompass anything from facelifts to brachioplasty to thigh lifts and abdominoplasty. He's always ready to inform prospective patients about the latest techniques that include vertical breast reductions and lifts, endoscopic mid-face and brow lifts for eyelid rejuvenation, and high lateral tension abdominoplasty - a combination of liposuction and tummy tuck for body sculpturing. Further, he has performed more than 500 chest wall reconstructions, a complex procedure following open-heart surgery. Dr. DeVita's expertise in all of these procedures makes him one of the leading surgeons in the Northeast.
Like many hardworking physicians, DeVita waited to marry until he was in his 40s; today he and his wife have two young children. He enjoys sailing and golf, and lives with his family on Long Island's North Shore.
